John Galsworthy wurde am 14. August 1867 in Kingston Hill, England geboren und starb am 31. Januar 1933 in London. Er war ein englischer Schriftsteller und Dramatiker. Seine Romanreihe »Die Forsyte Saga« gilt als ein Klassiker der modernen englischen Literatur. 1932 erhielt Galsworthy den Literaturnobelpreis.
